Dr. Wafaa Hassan Alwan, a faculty member at our college, gave a lecture on the human right to education and its impact on achieving sustainable development. This lecture was part of a specialized training course organized by the Legal Consultations Committee in the Human Rights Division, headed by the university, in cooperation with the College of Law.
The lecture included an explanation of the human right to education from the perspective of the Holy Quran, law, and the constitution. It also addressed the relationship between education and sustainable development and its impact, and whether it is the fourth goal of sustainable development or the cornerstone and fundamental pillar of sustainability.
The lecture identified the obstacles facing the educational process in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, noting the need to activate capacity building programs for educators, exchange expertise and successful experiences, increase focus on the quality of curricula, and provide the necessary resources to develop educational infrastructure and joint funding between the public and private sectors to support education.
