Dr. Ahmed Al-Saffar, head of the Research and Studies Unit in the Human Rights Division at the University of Karbala Presidency and a faculty member at our college, gave a lecture on the mechanism for poverty eradication, in light of the 2005 Iraqi Constitution, and comparing it intellectually and practically with the policies of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) in managing state affairs.
The lecture, which was part of a specialized training course organized by the Human Rights Division at the University Presidency, reviewed the means to raise the standard of living for individuals from a realistic perspective. It also addressed the state’s responsibility to provide the foundations for a decent living, in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution, and how Imam Ali (peace be upon him) addressed the issues of poverty and the equitable distribution of wealth.
The lecture aimed to highlight the importance of social justice and link modern constitutional concepts with moral and religious values, in order to enhance the participants’ understanding of legal and developmental issues.
