Dr. Woud Al-Anbari, a faculty member at the College of Law at the University of Karbala, recently published a new book titled “The Civil Liability of Banks for Fraud in Documentary Credits.”
The book addresses a vital topic in the banking and commercial fields, as documentary credits are one of the important banking tools for settling payments arising from international trade, as they provide confidence and financial liquidity between the parties to an international contract.
The book focuses on the issue of fraud that may be committed by one party and the extent of the bank’s civil liability resulting from its failure to fulfill its basic obligation to examine documents. It also presents a detailed review of the relevant legal provisions. The book also provides an extensive analysis of the position of the Iraqi judiciary and law, along with a precise legal comparison with Egyptian and American law, making it a distinguished scholarly addition to the Arab legal library.
This publication comes within the context of supporting scientific research and developing specialized legal studies in the field of banking transactions and international trade.
