The postgraduate studies rapporteur in our college, Professor Dr. Adel Shamran, participated in a doctoral thesis discussion committee at the College of Law, University of Thi Qar, on the concept of safety and security defect and its impact under product liability systems – a comparative study submitted by the student Maha Naji Jassim.
The study aimed to clarify the modern concept of safety and security defect under product liability systems, especially since this topic is one of the practical topics that raise many problems, in addition to clarifying the definition of safety and security defect and distinguishing it from the traditional concept of defect, especially if the defect or damage arises from artificial intelligence technologies, which in many cases cannot be proven, and therefore it is difficult to determine who is responsible for compensating for this damage.
The study referred to a number of legal proposals that addressed the shortcomings and legislative deficiencies regarding the regulation of liability arising from safety and security defects in its modern concept.
