A master’s thesis in the College of Law at the University of Karbala discussed the civil protection of the literary copyright of the legal person – a comparative study submitted by the student Mahdi Sahib Abdul Hussein.
The study aimed to reveal the ambiguity and legislative contradiction that prevails in the Iraqi Copyright Protection Law No. 3 of 1971, amended and currently in force.
The study concluded that the American legislator, represented by the Literary Rights Law of the State of Puerto Rico, was unique in defining the literary copyright, while the Iraqi legislator granted the legal person the status of the author and made it the owner of the copyright, but it ignored the issue of transferring these rights from the natural person to the legal person through inheritance.
The discussion committee approved the thesis with a very good rating.
