The Faculty of Law, University of Karbala, holds a seminar on violence against women from a legal and legal perspective
The Faculty of Law, University of Karbala, held a symposium tagged with violence against women from a legal and legal perspective, in partnership with Al-Zahra University of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussainiya.
The symposium included two axes: The first was the legal aspect presented by Prof. Israa Fahmy, responsible for the Gender Unit at the College of Law, in which she explained the position of Islamic Sharia regarding violence against women, where Islamic Sharia honored women and gave them the status they deserve as a mother, daughter, wife or An aunt or uncle by reviewing the texts in the Qur’an and Sunnah that refer to this meaning.
As for the second, it is the legal axis presented by Dr. Ashwaq Abdul-Rasoul, Faculty of Law, in conjunction with the six Abeer Nouri from Al-Zahra University of the Al-Hussainiya Holy Shrine, in which they discussed the position of legislation on the phenomenon of violence against women, as the legislation in force criminalizes violence of all kinds, especially within the family, including the Iraqi Penal Code. They also shed light on the domestic violence draft law and the criticisms raised in connection with it, in addition to the clauses it contains that could limit this law.

The course identified some legal aspects of violence and its impact on society, and presented some proposals to confront this phenomenon, including raising the status of women in society and raising awareness of their legal and legitimate rights to protect themselves and their families.
